Based on the classroom discussion about the cyanotype add a few short sentences about the history and the process.
The cyanotype was made by Sir John William Hershel. The process turns two chemicals into a picture when they are mixed and expposed to sun.
List the chemicals used and their Health, fire and reactivity numbers.
Ferric ammonium citrate- Health:1 Fire:1 Reactivity:0
Potassium ferricyanide - Health:2 Fire:0 Reactivity:0
List two procedures to follow if there is an accident(oral, skin, or eyes)
Ferric ammonium citrate:
1.Check for and remove any contact lenses. In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Cold water may be used. Get medical attention if irritation occurs.
2.Wash with soap and water. Cover the irritated skin with an emollient. Get medical attention if irritation develops. Cold water may be used.
Potassium ferricyanide:
1.Wash with a disinfectant soap and cover the contaminated skin with an anti-bacterial cream. Seek medical attention.
2.If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention.
