- a magnifying lens with a focal length between 12 and 17 centimeters (between +6 and +8 dioptres) ;
- a shoe box; - a piece of translucent plastic such as that used for plastic shopping bags; - some cardboard (this can be taken from a second shoe box); - a pair of strong scissors, Stanley knife, compasses, pencil, ruler, stapler; - glue for cardboard and a brush. |
Cyanotype Questions
What color was the cyanotype emulsion when it was applied to the paper?
The cyanotype emulsion was like a lime green or bright yellow when applied to the paper.
What happened when it was placed outside in the sunlight? Why?
When the cyanotype was placed outside, almost immedietly it started darkening when the light hit it.
When your print was removed from the glass and the objects were removed, what did you observe?
When my print was removed from the glass, it was really dark.
Describe what happened to the exposed areas of the print and the unexposed areas of the print when it was placed in water. Why do you think this happened?
When it was placed in water, the pieces of it that were not hard were able to wash away in the water.
Any final thoughts about the way it looks, feels or your observations of the process?
I am glad we had to do it a second time because we left it out to long and you could see it, but the second time you could see it a lot better.
